Lila Danielle

I am Lila.

I write with my body first. My pen second. In this way, words tend to dance more freely onto the page and I suffer less.

Aloha. Hello There. Welcome. Come in and see if something makes you curious. Stay for awhile. Engage with me.

I'm an ecstatic dancer and movement facilitator who believes, like Martha Graham did, that "dance is the hidden language of the soul." Inspired by some of the most avant-garde early creators of modern and expressive dance such as Graham, Isadora Duncan, Anna Halprin and Gabrielle Roth, I have followed an unconventional path towards becoming a dancer.

Over the last twenty-five years, I've learned from many fellow dancers and teachers and through my own practice that there is tremendous artistic expression and deep healing available within the body. Being able to feel and fully express myself through embodied, creative movement has had a profound impact on my life. I've danced as long as I can remember and will continue to dance as long as I'm alive.

I'm an open book and a blank page. I've been a journal keeper for thirty-five years and have written poetry since I was a young girl. I was a newspaper columnist for twenty-four months and a freelance writer long enough to know those weren't the careers for me. I've created enough websites and blogs over the past two decades to make my head spin and my heart weary. I've become more clear in the last two years about what really wants to be expressed and shared and I'm now devoted to writing more than I ever have. There is a book in the cauldron.

I'm a passionate advocate for play, laughter and merriment. I enjoy being spontaneous and silly and do my best to not take life so seriously. Helping others to do the same is one of my favorite things to do. Engaging in utter ridiculousness quite often keeps me young at heart and in body.

I'm an idea-generator, mischief-maker and I love to stir things up.  I am willing to be vulnerable and bold when speaking my truth and also when asking questions of others. Being blunt is a known-trait of Sagittarians and so is having a love of travel. Guilty as charged by the stars.

Two more bits:

I have an absurd amount of art supplies, writing paper and enough pens to last my lifetime and yet I'm always excited to scoop up more.

I may very well be an experience junkie and I'm okay with this.
